Acting for camera: The course aims to teach actors how to deliver natural and engaging performances specifically tailored for the camera. This includes understanding the technical aspects of acting on screen, such as framing, shot composition, and working with the camera.
Technical screen craft: This aspect of the course focuses on the technical skills necessary for acting on screen. It may include topics such as hitting marks, understanding different camera angles, using eyelines effectively, and adapting performances for different shot sizes.
Immersive acting techniques: The course may introduce immersive acting techniques that allow actors to fully embody their characters and create authentic performances. This can involve exercises in emotional connection, sensory awareness, and physicality.
Rehearsal methods: Participants will learn practical rehearsal techniques to prepare for their scenes. Rehearsals are crucial for actors to explore their characters, develop emotional depth, and build chemistry with scene partners.
Showreel Scene Rehearsal. You will be cast in two scenes with other actors from the group cast by Paulette. On this day you will explore the script and learn the ways in which Paulette rehearses scenes with actors on his own productions.Â
You will learn to implement blocking into your performance and prepare yourself for the days of filming with the crew ahead.
Showreel Filming
You will use your new skills and confidence to shoot two scenes with a professional crew under the direction of Paulette Randall. Over the two days, students will have an opportunity to learn from the crew and learn the skills required to remain focussed and deliver a conniving performance on a professional set. Content will be expertly edited and ideal for use as a new showreel or added to existing content.
You’ll be working at the heart of the British Film Industry and home to some of the world’s most influential film makers. Feel inspired and build your confidence as you work with industry leading professionals in a supportive environment.
