General American Accent – Two Day Workshop

Tues 15th - Weds 16th July 2025

Pinewood Studios

Develop a strong base for General American Accent

Introduction

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some experience with accents, this course is designed to meet you where you are and help you achieve greater clarity, confidence, and authenticity when speaking in the General American accent. Led by leading voice and accent coach Tim Birkett, this two-day course at Pinewood Studios will provide you with a solid understanding of the sounds, rhythms, and intonation patterns that define the General American accent.

Workshop Outline

You’ll explore the fundamentals, such as pronunciation and articulation, as well as more advanced techniques like linking and fluid speech — all aimed at helping you sound natural and conversational. Tim’s approach is hands-on, interactive, and adaptable to suit all levels of ability. Each day will feature a blend of explanation, demonstration, and practice, with plenty of opportunities for feedback to refine your skills.

We’ll start with the basics and build progressively, allowing you to learn at your own pace. By the end of this course, you’ll not only have a stronger command of the General American accent but also a deeper understanding of how to use it effectively in various settings, from casual conversations to formal presentations.
