A Week on Camera
In The Mediterranean

Feel inspired and build your confidence as you collaborate with Europe’s leading filmmakers in the heart of Malta.

The week begins with two days of in-depth workshop training, followed by dedicated rehearsals on Wednesday, before filming your professionally produced showreel scenes on location across Thursday and Friday.
Day 1: A Life on Set

What you’ll do

  • Learn how pro sets run and the core language of camera and blocking.
  • Rehearse and work on camera with practical setups.
  • Get personalised notes from Directors Tim & Nathan to sharpen performance.

You’ll leave Day 1 with

  • A clear grasp of set etiquette, shot structure, and actionable feedback you can apply immediately.

Day 2: Building a Character

What you’ll do

  • Explore multiple character-building methods and script activation techniques used by top talent.
  • Apply the tools to scenes, refining choices with director feedback.
  • Industry Guest: Matt Hookings (Actor & Producer) on bringing roles to life across feature and indie projects, plus open Q&A.

You’ll leave Day 2 with

  • A repeatable character workflow, sharper scene choices, and real-world insights from working professionals.

Day 3: Scene Rehearsals

What you’ll do

  • Rehearse two contrasting scenes — one directed by Nathan, one by Tim — giving you a chance to explore different characters and directing styles.
  • Learn the professional rehearsal process: breaking down text, blocking, and shaping performance with your director.
  • Begin to develop characters from scratch, testing choices and refining them before stepping onto camera.

You’ll leave Day 3 with

  • Two fully-developed characters, a clear rehearsal toolkit, and the confidence to carry your work into filming days.

Day 4: Nathan Caselton - Showreel Filming

Work with a professional crew as you film your first scene, Directed by Nathan Caselton.

You’ll be guided through a unique process, aiming to bring out your best performance for camera and understand small changes you can make to ensure you always make the Final Cut of any project.

Day 5: Tim Kent - Showreel Filming

Film your second showreel scene, with a contrasting character Directed by Tim Kent.

Working with the professional film crew you’ll continue to build technical confidence and bring your best performance to camera. 

Tim & Nathan will round up with feedback and a detailed Q&A on Film Production, Acting Techniques and Career Progression.

    Tim Kent

    Director & Producer

    Tim Kent brings over 30 years of hands-on industry experience. He’s worked as a Talent Agent, Casting Director, Director and Producer, whilst guiding countless actors to successful careers. 

    Tim founded Actors Studio in 2005 to provide a unique space that connects actors with industry professionals. He’s recently completed filming on ‘The Awakening’ on which he was the Producer.

    Nathan Caselton

    Director

    Nathan Caselton is a Director based at Pinewood Studios. With a career spanning over a decade having forged a path in film production from a young age and now surrounded by some of the World’s most influential film-makers.

    Having worked with both Beginners and BAFTA Winners, Nathan has a clear vision of how to produce watchable performances with casts of all scale and tell engaging stories on screen.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Will I Receive Footage From Workshops?

    All workshops during the course will be filmed. You will receive all workshop footage to download via our digital portal.

    Will I Receive A Showreel From This Course?

    You will film two professional scenes shot on Cinema Cameras. These scenes will go through post production including editing and colour grading and delivered via WeTransfer up to 7 weeks after the course.

    How Do I Apply For The Course?

    You can book through our website. We accept all major Credit & Debit Cards, PayPal and International Payment Providers. Ideal if you have some prior acting experience or training, or are a seasoned professional seeking a refresher. Not suitable for complete beginners.

    Is The Course Suitable For International Students?

    Yes we welcome international students on all of our courses. The course is taught in English, so it is important that you have proficient English language skills.

    How Many Students Are On This Course?

    The course is limited to a maximum of 12 participants.

    What Time Do Workshops Run?

    The course runs daily (Mon-Fri) from 10am to 5pm, with a lunch break typically at 1pm. During the filming days on Thursday and Friday, the schedule extends to accommodate the filming process, with hours generally from 8am to 6pm.
