A series of 10 intensive three hour workshops designed to keep your work en point, enhance your skill set, keep you audition ready and boost your confidence.
This course is extremely intensive, designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to work in this industry. Not just your responsibilities in front of the camera, but how you go about ensuring you get the job in the first place – how you market yourself, make yourself stand out in a casting (for all the right reasons!), understanding the language of screen and the roles of those on the other side of the camera.
It is designed to be a repeatable course, continually helping you grow as a performer, the course also constantly evolves to keep up to date with the current en vogue audition practices, showreel requirements and practitioners methodologies.
Covering all the practicalities you need for working in the industry today – including understanding the screen casting process, tips and tricks for improving audition technique, sight reading, self taping, actors will look at different acting methods to assist in bringing scripts to life on screen, making themselves stand out in the audition and ultimately get that role!
Actors will participate in individually focused skill-enhancing workshops run in small, select groups – ensuring optimum focused attention throughout. Most actors know that training never ends and that one needs to regularly ‘flex your acting muscle’ as well as to explore and expand your knowledge base.
The aim of this course is to aid your continuous training and ensure personal and professional growth. So if you would like more training in how to nail a casting, know how to best prepare for any role, approach Shakespeare using the actors: ‘First Folio Technique’, top up your vocal training, analyse how to specifically improve your on screen technique and receive a personalised Professional Profile “health check”: then this is the course for you.
This course culminates in a mock audition in front of industry professionals followed by detailed feedback and Q&A.
Thanks to this course’s reputation, participants are now also offered a year’s free membership to Backstage and, impressively: a free, GUARANTEED audition slot for the London edition of the famous MonologueSlam UK (slots that often sell out in a couple of hours!) The course also helps prepare you for this (and similar) auditions. Whilst a successful outcome of this audition is obviously not guaranteed, multiple past students have been successful and appeared in the show. Successful participation in MonologueSlam UK also counts as a Spotlight credit.
Students will most likely fall into one of the following categories:
