Over an intensive 5 days you will work directly with Tim Kent and cover all attributes of acting for Film and Television. While discovering the technical requirements of the screen actor, you will be introduced to a range of new performance techniques to help with future characters.

Tim Kent is a multi-award winning director with over 25 years experience working at the forefront of the British film industry. Starting his career on screen, Tim went on to run a successful talent agency in London’s West-End for 12 years, representing many household names, however in 2008 his focus shifted towards directing & producing films and coaching screen acting. Using his experienced team of industry professionals Tim has devised an intensive course that brings together his knowledge of the industry, and offers you the opportunity to take advantage over 5 Days at Pinewood Studios.
Tim’s work has been recognised internationally; In 2016 his film ‘Prowler’ won the prestigious Best British Film at the Portsmouth International Film Festival gaining victory on over 500 other entries, including feature length films. In 2013 ‘Two Persons Max’ won the Award of Excellence at the Los Angeles Movie Awards and in 2012 ‘At Your Service’ received a Best Film nomination at the London Independent Film Festival.
DAY 1 – INTRODUCTION TO CAMERA
Tim will introduce you to the career of a working screen actor and outline how the industry works, giving you advice on where to start and how to progress. You will then discover shot sizes and camera movements to make you aware of the demands on screen actors.
You will then begin practical training in front of camera with the Director and DOP covering shot sizes, eye lines, and personal continuity. The Director will then playback scenes and discuss how to improve your technical skills.
DAY 2 – USING YOUR LIFE ON SCREEN
From a state of relaxation you will focus on truthful experiences from your life to support your performance on screen. Using sense memory you will learn the how to maintain, deepen & shift your sense of truth helping bring life to the script.
Filmed Performances will be watched and analysed by the class and Director.
DAY 3 – SCENE REHEARSALS
Cast scenes will be rehearsed and blocked with the Director to prepare for day four and five of filming. You will discuss how to bring your script to screen and apply new techniques developed over the course.
Rehearsals will cover camera angles to make you aware of your movements, while giving you an opportunity to discuss the use of props and costume.
DAY 4 – FILMING DAY ON LOCATION
Using new skills and techniques developed with the Director, you will work alongside industry professionals on a Location-Based film set to shoot the first scene of your showreel.
This day will give you a real insight into the demands of a working actor when filming on location with a crew.
DAY 5 – FILMING DAY IN STUDIO & CONCLUSION
You will return to Pinewood Studios to film your second scene in-studio working alongside our professional crew and Director. Your second scene will offer a contrasting character to showcase your different abilities and give you an opportunity to explore different screen performance techniques.
The course will be concluded when filming is complete, and you will have a chance to ask questions to the crew and Director about working in the exciting industry of Film and TV.
WALK AWAY WITH TWO SCENES
You will walk away from this course with the skills to perform on camera, and a professional showreel filmed in cinema-style with our crew at Pinewood Studios. Your scenes will be edited and colour graded for use across digital platforms.
