Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept International Students and do I need a visa to study at Actors Studio?

We enthusiastically welcome International Students. Those interested can join us for studies in the UK using a standard visitor visa.  For more details, please visit  https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor

Where are your courses and workshops held?

Most of our courses take place at the renowned Pinewood Studios, located just outside West London in Iver Heath. Pinewood Studios is conveniently accessible from Central London, and Heathrow Airport is in close proximity. For Central London-based courses, venues like The Audition House or Regents University are commonly used unless otherwise stated. Please be sure to review instructions tailored to your specific course or workshop.

How do I get to Pinewood Studios?

Pinewood Studios is easily accessible by both car and public transport. Situated just 20 miles from Soho and 8 miles from Heathrow, it enjoys close proximity to the M4, M25, and M40, offering direct access to London. On-site, free parking is available, and no parking permit is required.

For those using public transport, Pinewood is conveniently located near Uxbridge Tube Station, Slough Station, and Gerrards Cross Station. A complimentary shuttle bus service operates to and from these locations, facilitating convenient travel to the studios. The travel time on the shuttle service from the station to the studios is approximately 10 minutes. Please note that the Pinewood Shuttle service operates on weekdays only, and you can find the current bus timetable on the Pinewood Studios official website.

Where will we film on location?

Our courses and showreel packages frequently involve on-location filming. The specific locations may vary based on the season and availability. Typically, these locations are within a 5-mile radius of Pinewood Studios to minimise travel time.  We will make arrangements during your course to ensure a smooth experience.

Can I get a certificate?

Upon successfully completing our Masterclass in Screen Acting and 1 Year Shot to Be Seen Course, students will receive a certificate. For other courses, certificates are not automatically provided but can be arranged upon request through info@actorsstudio.co.uk

What should I wear for training?

We recommend wearing cool and comfortable clothing to allow for unrestricted participation during our courses. If you’re involved in filming a showreel as part of your chosen course, specific costume requirements will be communicated to you.

Do I need an acting CV to attend your courses?

Upon booking, we kindly ask for a copy of your acting CV and headshot. This allows us to tailor our training to your needs and understand your acting background before your arrival. If you don’t possess an acting CV and headshot, please email us a brief biography along with a recent clear photo of yourself to info@actorsstudio.co.uk

I’m over 50, am I too old for your courses and workshops?

Certainly not! Our courses and workshops cater to a diverse age range, and we welcome participants of all ages. Our classes typically feature a varied group of individuals, and we take pride in the diversity of our student body. We accept students from 17 years +. For younger actors aged 11-16, we provide a specialised weekend crash course. Our Rising Star Package is designed to be suitable for actors of all ages.

I want to get in touch with your Tutors. Can I have their email address?

Due to GDPR compliance, we’re unable to pass on personal contact details for any of our team members. We’re happy to handle communication through info@actorsstudio.co.uk

Can you help with a special request I have to assist me with my training?

If you have a special request to enhance your learning experience, please contact us directly on info@actorsstudio.co.uk

Our team is dedicated to addressing your needs confidentially and ensuring your complete satisfaction.

What is the required English proficiency level?

All our courses and workshops are conducted in English. A proficiency level of English IELTS 5.5 or its equivalent is required.

How can I determine if a course/workshop is suitable for my experience level?

Each course webpage will specify the intended level of participants, providing clarity on its suitability for your experience level.

Is accommodation provided for the duration of my course?

Accommodation is not included in our courses. However, we can offer guidance on suitable nearby locations based on recommendations from previous students, often found through platforms like Airbnb. We suggest considering accommodations close to transportation hubs such as Uxbridge, Slough, Gerrard’s Cross, and West Ruislip train stations, enabling easy access to the Pinewood Studios free shuttle bus service if you are not driving.

Is it possible to observe a course or workshop before making a booking?

Unfortunately, we do not allow observers for our courses and workshops. However, we recommend joining our 1 Day Screen Acting Taster Workshop or short online workshops as an alternative, providing valuable insights into our offerings. For any specific questions or additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact our Actors Studio team.

Can I drop in on another course if I miss a session?

Regrettably, we do not permit students to attend classes as makeup sessions for missed ones. This policy is in place to avoid disruptions for other students  and tutors during ongoing classes. Additionally, our tutors prefer to customise their sessions based on each group of students, making it unlikely that the content covered will align precisely with your original class.

Are scripts provided, or do I need to bring my own?

Rest assured, all the necessary scripts for your course/workshop will be provided by us.

Are your training venues accessible?

It is important to note that only some of our training venues have full accessibility. If you have any uncertainties or specific accessibility concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us for clarification.

Will I get a Qualification?

Our courses and workshops do not offer a formal qualify qualification.  Instead, our focus is on providing you with the opportunity to receive top quality training from current Leading Industry Creatives.

I want to book a course/workshop but there are no dates listed or it says it is ‘sold out’.

We regularly update our course programme with new dates throughout the year. If you don’t see any listed dates, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be delighted to assist you in finding suitable options. We limit class sizes to maximise your learning experience. If space is unavailable, you can be added to a waiting list, and we’ll notify you promptly if a spot opens up. Under certain conditions, it might be possible to accommodate an additional individual. However, this is contingent upon the venue’s capacity and the nature of the class.

I want to join Spotlight

Spotlight is a platform that links performers with opportunities in theatre, television, and film productions globally. Casting professionals prefer Spotlight for their projects because Spotlight performers are acknowledged as some of the industry’s finest.

To be eligible for Spotlight Membership, you must successfully complete a minimum of 2 years worth of part-time training with Actors Studio.

We assign points for each course or workshop you successfully complete at Actors Studio. Upon accumulating a minimum total of 400 points, you become eligible to apply for Spotlight Membership.

The point values for our courses and workshops, which can be found on our website, vary based on their duration and the associated non-contact study hours.

Upon successfully completing our 1 Year Shot to Be Seen course, you will automatically qualify to apply for Spotlight membership.

What is your cancellation policy?

Kindly refer to the Terms and Conditions on our website for information regarding our cancellation and transfer policies. https://actorsstudio.co.uk/terms-conditions/

Can you help me get an agent?

Whilst we can’t directly assist you in securing an agent, we can offer some guidance on the steps you can take.

Frequently, we receive direct inquiries from productions seeking to hire actors. In such cases, we consistently recommend actors who have received training at Actors Studio and are well-prepared for the demands of the industry.

Remember that securing representation can take time, and it’s essential to be patient and persistent. It’s also beneficial to continue honing your craft, building your resume, and staying active in the industry.
